I’m finally ready to show a sampling of the pillow covers I’ve made. The way the fabric is folded and sewn creates a 3D effect. They are fun to make, I quilted some of them to further enhance the 3D look. The pillow covers range in size from about 14″ to 20″ square and have a zipper closure on the back.

I’m learning more about which fabrics show off the cool 3D effect. For example, look at the black and white, floral and elephant print on the far left. While the pillow cover is totally cool, the busy print doesn’t highlight the 3D look.
The black and tan fabric, shown in the next two pics, is also a busy print. I made two from this fabric, fell in love with them and they are now on our couch.
One of the neat features of the 3D design – little pockets formed when folding the squares.
I’m not sure pocket is the right word, they are actually small triangles, I bet the Tooth Fairy would love them!

This purple batik fabric highlights the diamonds. I’ll be looking though my fabric stash to see what other batiks are hiding. I plan to play around with different color combinations and sizes and maybe venture into some different quilting styles, although I’m by no means a quilter, you may only see straight lines from me.
After receiving her Pet Portrait Commission of Garrett, a Tabby Mix cat, the client asked for a pillow cover! It turned out pretty cute and Garrett liked it too!

I’ll be making more pillow covers and fiddling around with various fabrics and styles. For the 3D pattern used above, check out the ingenious pattern maker and quilter at Geta’s Quilting Studio.
I want to incorporate Marc’s Sunflowers, Pets, Ladies and Oil Paintings into more pillow cover designs down the road. With that said…stay tuned, there are more pillow covers to come.
